Your First Appointment
For many people, the experience of meeting with an attorney is something to fear. After all, many people only see attorneys at the most difficult times in their lives.
People need to have faith and confidence in the attorneys they come to in time of need.
At Wilson Law Group, we focus on our clients. Our job is not only to know the law, but to know you well enough to know what matters most to you, and to not push onto you a solution you don’t need.
We get to know our clients well enough to understand them, and to know how the law will have the most impact on their situation. But perhaps just as important is that we are able to explain how the law affects them in a way that is easily understandable. The law can be a complex subject and we know how important it is for our clients that we explain what we’re doing for them, how we’re doing it, and how it will affect them.
How We Work With You
Although each client is different, we have found that following certain important steps helps both client and attorney to arrive at a high level of understanding and cooperation
- Listening. Too many law firms offer the answer before they have even heard the question. At Wilson Law Group we believe our first duty is to let our clients tell us their story, what led to their current dilemma, and what is important to them now.
- Identifying the problems and issues that need to be resolved. Sometimes, expecially in times of high emotion, it is hard to see the forest for the trees. We help you to see what the real issues are.
- Carefully explaining, in clear and understandable language the legal implications of those issues. Some matters that might seem very important have little or no legal ramifications. Others that appear trivial might be of vital importance in the eyes of the law. You need to know which is which, and why.
- Proposing solutions. This provides a roadmap for how we are to proceed.
Many clients have told us, concerning their experience with other law firms, “Things were done, and I didn’t know why. I never understood what they were doing.” We want our clients to fully understand and participate in our representation. The process outlined here helps us to bond with our clients, and helps them to feel comfortable disclosing the kind of information we need to give them effective representation.
